The East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner has denied permission to the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) to carry out a protest rally against the government’s delay in disbursing scholarship for 2021-2022.
The DC in a letter to HYC education cell member, Joy Phankon said the permission for rally from Madan Iewrynghep to Additional Secretariat cannot be granted as the government has sanctioned the release of the scholarship through an official notification issued by the Education Department today.
Since Section144CrPC has been imposed through an order dated October 31 in the entire Shillong Urban Area Agglomeration prohibiting any rally, the permission for the rally cannot be granted, the letter added.
