The office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has advised people to get an Aadhaar card as the document is required to avail many central government schemes.
A citizen can apply from the DC’s office or the Block Development Officer’s office, or at post offices special camps arranged, by submitting their EPIC and Birth Certificate.
For citizens below 15 years of age, the parent’s Schedule Tribe Certificate, Birth Certificate, or the Aadhaar card can be used to enrol for Aadhaar.
For those who already have an Aadhaar card, it is advised to complete Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC in the offices and special camps. The offices of the Block Development Officers are also organising special camps.
According to a press release an Aadhaar card is required to avail schemes such as ICDS nutrition POSHAN 2.0, CM Care pension, PMAY(G) housing, student scholarships, MHIS (Smart Card), MGNREGA (100-day employment scheme), NFSA (ration rice), NSAP (old-age pension), LPG connection (for household gas supply), and several others, a press release said.
