Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma virtually launched the ‘Paint My City” campaign in presence of Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma.
The virtual launch was also attended by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani, Garo Hills Autonomous District Council CEM Albinus Marak and other officials from different departments.
Speaking at the launch, the chief minister said that the initiative is aimed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the town. As part of the initiative, the boundary walls, building of government offices and educational institutions will be painted.
He further said that the overall objective of this campaign is to transform Tura town as one of the cleanest and picturesque towns in the country.
The chief minister appealed to the community to participate in the initiative and set an example for the state and the nation.
The campaign will also be launched in Jowai and Shillong.
Meanwhile, the chief minister also released a book titled, ‘A Sociological Study of The Khasi Religion’ authored by Dr. Sharalyne Khyriemmujat.
The book forwarded by the Syiem of Hima Khyrim, is study of Ka Niam Khasi (traditional Khasi belief).
The author is an assistant professor and the Head of the Department of Sociology, Shillong College. She obtained her PhD from North-Eastern Hill University, on the topic “A Sociological Study of Ka Niam Khasi”.
Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem was also present on the occasion.
