St Michael’s Higher Secondary School and Balawan Higher Secondary Education, Umsning, conducted an orientation programme for their higher secondary students and the students of Mawrong RMSA Higher Secondary School on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) on February 23, a delayed press release informed today.
The resource person for the programme was Bisharlang Pyngrope, the state convenor of the All India Education Forum (AIEF) and teacher of St Michael’s.
The programme was very informative, insightful and beneficial for the students in attendance. The resource person highlighted the aims and objectives of NEP 2020.
He also highlighted salient points about CUET to the students. Pyngrope said that CUET is a part of a ‘one nation, one exam’ policy and the Class 12 exam is an academic achievement performance test and the CUET is a selection/elimination process related test.
He said that CUET gives equal opportunity to each student, end to subjective bias, clarity of rank, end to cut-off wrestling, equal opportunity to everyone. He spoke to the students about main features on CUET under graduate as per 2024: the type of test, medium of test and the pattern of test, the areas on which students will be tested.
The students were also told about the application process and the key elements requiring preparation in advance, NEHU subject requirement and details to be compiled before applying which included the details of the parents and the students.
