The Khasi Students Union has effectively demanded 100 per cent reservation for Khasi and Garo athletes in all sports teams representing Meghalaya.
KSU General Secretary Donald Thabah in a press release said this was to encourage and uplift indigenous youth in sports.
Specifically, the Meghalaya Cricket Association and Meghalaya Basketball Association were mentioned by the pressure group.
According to the KSU general secretary, it matters not if the non-tribal cricketers are good or even if they win trophies for the state or possess a residential certificate, the sports association should reject them.
