One more person died from Covid-19 in Meghalaya.
Samarjeet Gupta (65), of Mahendraganj, was admitted to Ampati Civil Hospital yesterday evening and passed away later the same day.
He was diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid-19, bronchial asthma and hypertension. This was the second fatality from the virus in South West Garo Hills.
With this, the number of death from Covid-19 in the State has gone up to 63.
There were also 139 new Covid cases in the State reported today.
Of these 74 are in East Khasi Hills who included 72 civilians and two members of the armed forces, 25 in Ri-Bhoi, 17 in West Garo Hills, nine in East Garo Hills, five in South West Khasi Hills, four in South West Garo Hills, two in West Khasi Hills, two in West Jaintia Hills and one in South Garo Hills.
East Khasi Hills has now recorded over 5,000 Covid cases, with the tally standing at 5,503 today. That is just under two-thirds (65.77 per cent) of Meghalaya’s total of 7,683.
The total number of active cases in the State so far is 2478 while the number of recoveries is 5142.
