One Santosh Pradhan (52), of Lachumiere, Shillong, became the 91st fatality due to Covid-19, it was reported today.
Pradhan was admitted to NEIGRIHMS on October 26 after testing positive for the coronavirus the day before at Woodland Hospital. He died on November 4. The cause of death was refractory shock with multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, Covid pneumonia, Type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
There were 92 new infections reported today – 22 in East Khasi Hills, 18 in West Jaiñtia Hills, 17 in East Garo Hills, 14 in East Jaiñtia Hills, nine in West Garo Hills, six in South West Garo Hills, five in Ri-Bhoi and one in North Garo Hills.
There were also 61 recoveries – 39 in East Khasi Hills, six in East Jaiñtia Hills, six in East Garo Hills, five in West Garo Hills, two in North Garo Hills and one each in Ri-Bhoi, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
The number of active cases now stands at 989. There have been a total of 9,893 Covid-19 infections in the state, of which 8,813 have recovered.
A total of 2.07 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state so far, Director of Health Services Dr Aman War said.
