Meghalaya recorded its 76th fatality due to Covid-19, Director of Health Services Dr Aman War informed.
The deceased was identified as Slinsibon Sawian (60) of Lamali, Shillong. Sawian was declared brought dead at Ganesh Das Hospital yesterday a little after midnight. A sample was taken from the body and was found to be positive for Covid-19.
However, a definitive cause of death has not been identified.
Meanwhile, for the fourth consecutive day, recoveries from the virus outpaced new infections, 105 to 57.
Of the new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 26, West Garo Hills 17, East Garo Hills three, South Garo Hills three, West Jaiñtia Hills three, East Jaiñtia Hills two, North Garo Hills one, Ri-Bhoi one and South West Garo Hills one.
Of the recoveries, East Khasi Hills accounted for 66, Ri-Bhoi 15, West Jaiñtia Hills 14, West Garo Hills six, East Jaiñtia Hills two and South West Khasi Hills two.
There are currently 2,020 active Covid-19 cases in the state. There have been a total of 8,593 infections, of which 6,497 have recovered, which is more than 75 per cent.
