The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police team in East Jaiñtia Hills apprehended one person in possession of 51 kg of cannabis, which he had carried with him in a car.
The person identified as Ershad Miah of South Tripura was passing through Meghalaya from Silchar when the Assam-registered car (AS-01S-4669) he was driving was stopped by police at around 6 pm yesterday at Damcherra, Umkiang.
When checking of the vehicle was conducted the team recovered cannabis that weighed 51 kg.
The car and a mobile phone were seized from the accused. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against Miah at Lumshnong PS.
