Meghalaya has revised the state entry protocol for domestic and international travellers amid the emerging threat from a new Coronavirus variant, “Omicron”.
The new regulations issued yesterday mandate all persons entering Meghalaya enroll in the state testing portal and use the Arogya Setu app on their cell phones (http:/meghalayaonline.gov in/covid/testing.htm). Travellers can also generate e-invite for tourists from the state government portal.
As per the new protocol, RTPCR testing at entry is mandatory for all persons coming from ‘countries at risk’. The international travellers are also required to submit a self-declaration form.
An isolation period of seven days irrespective of vaccination and RTPCR status is mandatory. Retesting shall be done by the concerned officials of District Surveillance Unit.
If the RTPCR detects any positive case the sample will be sent for genomic analysis to determine the variant.
The list of 11 ‘countries at risk’ are the United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Maurtius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel.
The entry protocol for domestic travellers remains the same as per notification issued by Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Meghalaya on 6th September 2021.
All the residents of the State and the travellers are advised to follow the COVID Appropriate Behavior at all times which includes wearing mask, maintaining social distance and frequent sanitization of the hands.
