Columns like these and write-ups often influence public opinion and policies related to various aspects concerning society.
The statement by the General Secretary of KSU on the lack of having a strong State representation at the national level and demanding that local tribals be given maximum representation had stirred a hornet’s nest.
However if we were to go back and read between the lines by understanding what the statement meant I think on second thought most of us will agree.
In fact what the KSU meant was to motivate local sporting clubs to scout for talents, train and master these young people to excel so that they can represent the state more often instead of having some clubs importing players from outside the State.
It is also learnt that certain clubs and sporting associations instead of grooming local talents find it worthy to bring sportspersons from outside thereby deriving our very own.
So therefore it would be prudent for readers to see this in a different light and support being vocal for locals.
