The State government will soon decided on further relaxations to the various restrictions imposed in Meghalaya owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
One of the restrictions could apply to commercial vehicles, including taxis, in Shillong, which are only allowed to operate on certain days based on their licence plate number.
“We will have to discuss the restrictions on the odd-even number for commercial vehicles with the Transport Department since the construction of the new bridge at Dwarksuid (in Ri-Bhoi) is also pending,” cabinet minister A L Hek told reporters.
Yesterday, drivers under the All Meghalaya Commercial Vehicle Owners and Drivers Union threatened to stop their services, claiming great hardship owing to the odd-even formula.
