Police are yet to make any arrest in connection with the murder of two persons at Ichamati near Shella on March 27.
Ishan Singh and Sujit Dutta died after they were attacked by a group of miscreants after a protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act organised by the KSU and other organisations in the village.
A magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the incident. Two FIRs have been filed and cases have been registered with the Shella Police Station under Section 302 of IPC.
Preliminary enquiry has been conducted by a team of forensic experts at the spots where the two labourers were killed.
The victims were found dead at separate locations in Ichamati and Dalda respectively.
Police said that they have got some leads in the case and investigation is going on to trace the killers.
The victims who are residents of the area worked at a limestone quarry in the area.
Meanwhile, PTI reports that a pro-Bengali outfit ‘Bangla Pokkho’ demonstrated outside the Meghalaya House in Kolkata on Friday, demanding justice for the deceased.
Bangla Pokkho leader Arindam Chatterjee said people of different ethnicities have lived peacefully and harmoniously in West Bengal for ages, without discrimination and hostility, and that spirit should be followed everywhere.
