The State cabinet today approved the appointment of a full-time Secretary for the Meghalaya State Council of Technical Education (MSCTE) and Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).
Briefing media persons after the cabinet meeting, cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said a full time Secretary of the MSCTE was required since the polytechnics have been set up in Shillong, Tura and Jowai and four more are also in the pipeline.
Lyngdoh also informed that present additional director of Directorate of Higher and Technical Education A Ali Nagi who will retire soon from service will be the full time secretary of the MSCTE for 24 months.
She also informed that the cabinet has approved the appointment of retired Indian Forest Officer Cavouright P. Marak as executive chairman of MBOSE for a period of twelve months.
The cabinet also approved the change of the Captain Williamson Sangma Technical University to Captain Williamson Sangma State University. A bill on the change of the nomenclature will be brought in the Assembly.
Further, the cabinet approved the amendment of the Meghalaya Judicial Service Rules, 2006 and Meghalaya Higher Judicial Services Rules, 2015.
Under the amendment, recruitment of judicial officers in the State will be done by the Meghalaya High Court. Further, the amendment substituted the word Gauhati High Court by the word High Court of Meghalaya. The amendment also proposes to change the nomenclature of judicial officers as per directions of the Supreme Court.
