The North Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) today staged a protest against unfair grading system and demanded the university to withhold the second semester results until relative grade is implemented.
According to the students, implementation of the relative grading system would improve the grades of the students.
Pointing out that as per the UGC guidelines, implementation of relative grading system in universities across the country is recognized, NEHUSU also said that the system is also recommended by AICTE in its document, “Best Practices in AICTE Approved Institutions” to ensure efficient and effective practice for students academic grade moderation.
A memorandum on the demands was also submitted to NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla. The students said they must receive just marks so they can stand on a fair footing while competing in various examinations, be it academic or employment opportunities.
