The North-Eastern Hill University fraternity comprising of the faculty and non-teaching staff led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla took the Integrity Pledge as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week which started from today to November 3 with the theme ‘Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance With Integrity’.
Other dignitaries who took part in the pledge include the Registrar, Finance Officer and the Chief Vigilance Officer of the university.
Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) every year during the last week of October is taken up to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.
Meanwhile, the North Eastern Council (NEC) also today began the observance of the Vigilance Awareness Week.
The programme started with an Integrity Pledge administered by Air Marshal (Retd) Anjan Kumar Gogoi, Member of NEC on officers and staff at the auditorium of NEC here.
After the pledge taking ceremony, the workshop on the theme “Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance with Integrity” was inaugurated with the introductory speech of NEC Chief Vigilance Officer Sherry Lalthangzo.
This was followed by speeches on different issues pertaining to vigilance by NEC Adviser (T&C) Navin Kumar, Financial Adviser Gaigongdin Panmei and Planning Adviser, Calvin H. Kharshiing.
The workshop concluded with the speech by Air Marshal (Retd.) Anjan Kumar Gogoi, Member, NEC. It was followed by a question and answer session on different topics related to vigilance by officers and staff of NEC.
The weeklong programme will consist of quiz competition, essay writing competition, talk competition and poster making competition etc. The staff and officials of NEC are taking active participation.
