The Combined Annual Training Camp organised by the 61 Meghalaya Girls Battalion of the National Cadet Corps, Shillong concluded yesterday with a cultural programme themed “Unity in Diversity”.
The cadets were exposed to regimental way of life, service subjects and various competitions that aim to boost their morale and develop their personality and leadership qualities during the camp held at the 58 Gorkha Training Centre in Happy Valley.
During their 10 days stay at the camp, the cadets started their day with physical training, drill, weapon training, map reading, field craft/battle craft and personality development. They were also given lectures on avenues of tourism, recruitment in police department and crime against women and adventure sports.
The cadets also visited the Maneksha Museum, Sand Model Display, War Museum & Artificial Wall Climbing at the 58 GTC, Happy Valley.
Firing Practice was also organized for the cadets with the aim of identifying the potential firers. Competitions like debate, extempore speech, foot/arm drill, firing, singing, dancing, volley ball and tug of war were held at the camp which encouraged the cadets to hone their leadership skills and confidence.
