Shillong, Jun 25: The national level tribal meet of scouts, guides, rovers, and rangers was inaugurated on Thursday at the Meghalaya State Bharat Scouts and Guides headquarters here, by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui.
The five-day national event aims to promote intercultural learning, leadership, teamwork and community service among young scouts and guides belonging to various tribal communities from across the country.
With 176 participants from states like Rajasthan, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, the event serves as a platform to celebrate India’s rich tribal heritage. Participants will engage in cultural exchanges, adventure activities, and leadership development programs. This interactive environment encourages young scouts and guides to share ideas and experiences while upholding the core values of scouting and guiding, including discipline, service, and brotherhood.
During the inaugural ceremony, Rymbui praised the delegates for their commitment and discipline, calling them embodiments of the scouting spirit. He underscored the significant role of tribal communities in India’s development and urged participants to take pride in their identity while pursuing educational and leadership opportunities.
Rymbui encouraged tribal youth to blend cultural pride with modern aspirations, thereby becoming role models in their communities.
The inaugural ceremony also featured vibrant cultural performances celebrating India’s diverse tribal traditions.
