The 12th national seminar on ‘Futuristic Agriculture: Technology, Sustainability and Beyond concluded at the College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGSAS), Umiam today.
The three-day seminar, jointly organized in collaboration with the Society for Community Mobilisation for Sustainable Development, National Horticulture Board, ICAR Research Complex for NH Region and ICAR-ATARI (Zone VI Guwahati and Zone VII Umiam), brought together distinguished scientists, academicians, policymakers, and practitioners from across India.
CAU (Imphal) Vice Chancellor Dr. Anupam Mishra in his address as a chief guest laid emphasis on community mobilisation and stressed on the importance of artificial intelligence for bridging the gap towards sustainable agricultural production.
Prof. D. Thakuria, Dean of CPGSAS, and chairman overall co-ordination of local sub-committees presented a detailed report summarizing the key outcomes, deliberations, and recommendations.
Dr. P. Das, Former DDG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, New Delhi highlighted the various agricultural sustainability indicators and resource mobilisation while Dr. M. M. Adhikary, Former VC, BCKV, West Bengal emphasised on the technology that stands as the ultimate game changer.
Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Umiam, Meghalaya, Dr. K. Govindasamy, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-VI, Guwahati, Assam, Dr. J.P. Sharma, Former Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu & President, Society of Community Mobilization, Dr. S. K. Rout, Former DEE, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Satyapriya, Head, Division of Agriculture Extension, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, Dr. Rajneesh Tyagi, General Secretary, Society of Community Mobilization and Sustainable Development, New Delhi also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor was conferred with a lifetime achievement award by the mobilization society for his contributions in uplifting farmers` livelihoods. An award ceremony for the individuals for their outstanding contributions was also held at the function.
