The office of the District Medical and Health Officer will observe National Deworming Day (NDD) for a whole week, from October 21 to 28 across East Khasi Hills.
NDD is an initiative of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to make every child in the country worm-free.
The objective of NDD is to deworm all children between the ages of 1 and 19 to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.
Deworming will be conducted through a session site and community-based door-to-door campaign. During these days, administration of albendazole tablets to all children and adolescents in the 1-19 age group will be done directly by the frontline workers.
