The office of the District Medical and Health Officer of East Khasi Hills will observe National Deworming Day (NDD) tomorrow across the district in all schools (both public and private) and Anganwadi Centres with an aim to intensify efforts towards eradicating soil-transmitted helminths (STHs), or parasitic worms.
The objective of NDD is to deworm all pre-school and school-aged children between the ages of 1-19 in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.
This will be followed by a mop-up-day on November 1 with the intent of deworming children who missed the NDD programme.
