Former Trinamool Congress MLA Winnerson Sangma is likely to join the BJP in the coming days.
Winnerson who was the former legislator from Salmanpara constituency in South West Garo Hills is also a close confidante of former chief minister Dr. Mukul Sangma.
Reports said that the former MLA will join the BJP along with three other former legislators belonging to the Trinamool Congress and Congress.
Their entry into the BJP is likely to take place after the conclusion of the ongoing Assembly budget session.
It is unclear if Dr. Mukul Sangma is aware of the move by Winnerson and his colleagues to join the BJP.
In the recent past, there were media reports about an attempt by Dr. Mukul Sangma to join the BJP but which was thwarted by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress is likely to announce its candidate for the Lok Sabha election from Tura seat in a day or two.
Sources said that the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress has finalised the name of the candidate and the same has been approved by the national leadership of the party.
Recently, Dr. Mukul Sangma had said that Trinamool Congress would contest the Tura seat while at the same time leave the Shillong seat for Congress.
Both the parties are part of the INDIA bloc which was formed by opposition parties in the country to fight against the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls which are likely to be held in April-May this year.
