The government under former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma operated in a disorderly way but the NPP-led administration is conducting itself in a more systematic way, Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong said today.
Dr Mukul had earlier cornered the government about the funds spent on the FOCUS farmers’ support programme. His brother and fellow MLA Zenith Sangma also claimed that the government is taking all the credit for the schemes launched by the previous Dr Mukul government.
Tynsong, who was part of Mukul’s cabinet but then quit in favour of the NPP before the 2018 election, questioned Dr Mukul why the Crowborough hotel, now called Vivanta, was ever completed during his tenure.
“Dr Mukul Sangma was the CM for eight years, he should be questioned why during his tenure he couldn’t complete the Crowborough Hotel. It is under the leadership of CM Conrad Sangma and the MDA government that we are able to complete it,” Tynsong said.
He also informed that the Marriott Hotel in Jail Road will also be inaugurated next month.
“So, let Dr Mukul say anything because he has no other issues left to raise and I also know that the people don’t trust him anymore. Let him keep talking but the fact remains that this is the only government that completed the incomplete work/projects left by the previous government,” he stated.
Relating to Dr Mukul’s statement about the FOCUS scheme, Tynsong said that his former boss should recall that in 2017 he had also distributed cattle and also gave Rs 5,000 to each family in a very irregular and disorganized way.
“Therefore what we are doing now – schemes like FOCUS or PRIME – we are doing well and people who receive them are happy and blessed with the schemes implemented,” Tynsong said.
