The South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has passed prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC preventing movement of persons within 100 meters from the Indo-Bangladesh border from 7 pm to 6 am.
The decision was made to thwart anti-social elements that are likely to resort to smuggling of cattle, narcotic, drugs, liqour etc, the DC said. Such apprehension of serious breach of peace may harm the citizens including law enforcement agencies, he said.
The order is meant to control crimes and illegal activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border as preventive measures has to be taken, the DC said.
