With the aim to inculcate research skills, the Department of Doctoral Studies and Research, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) as part of its annual event organised a two-day event on different research-based activities on August 24 and 25.
Students from various departments of the university participated in these activities which included quiz competition, literature hunt, data interpretation, out of the box and research poster competition presentation.
The programme culminated on the August 25, 2023, with Dr Eros V. Kharshiing, Associate Professor, St Edmunds College and member of the Doctoral Committee MLCU, Shillong as chief guest at the valedictory function where he highlighted the importance of research being deeply rooted in the concerns of the local community.
He emphasised that such a focus allows research to address challenges effectively by offering nuanced understanding, localised insights, and innovative approaches. He further stressed on how innovation in research has the potential to revolutionise various aspects of life, fostering new ways of living, working, and interacting.
Kharshiing emphasised that researchers bear a substantial responsibility. Research has the power to influence policies, guide decisions, and shape lives.
Prizes were also awarded to the winners of the various activities held during the two-day event. The event was attended by the Chancellor of MLCU, Deans, faculty and students.
