Meghalaya is experiencing the highest rate of growth in Covid-19 cases across the country, according to the latest data.
The state has seen a growth of 177 percent in coronavirus cases in the last 14 days, the highest rate of any state or Union territory, according to covidtracking.in.
Only three states and territories are listed as being in the Red Zone, i.e., seeing an increase of 50 percent or more. Two are also in the North East – Tripura (169 percent) and Arunachal Pradesh (60 percent). Lakshadweep (112 percent) is the other.
Three other North East states are in the Orange Zone (20-50 percent growth) – Manipur (49), Assam (25) and Mizoram (22). Sikkim (20 percent) and Nagaland (11) are witnessing ‘low growth’ and are in the Yellow Zone.
Most other states in the country, including Maharashtra and those in the North, which were particularly hard hit in the second wave, are showing declining growth in new cases.
