Shillong, Oct 28: The Office of the Director General of Police, Meghalaya, has urged the public to use dial 112 as the common emergency helpline for police assistance, fire services, disaster and other emergencies under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS).
The office said that police control room numbers 2226101, 2222217 and fire service numbers 101, 2227000, 2520400 are regularly published in newspapers under ‘Important Telephone Numbers.’
To promote awareness of a unified response system, it has requested that dial 112 be published in place of the fire service numbers 101, 2227000 and 2520400.
The initiative aims to familiarise the public with a single number for quick access to emergency assistance.
