Migrant workers coming into Meghalaya for decoration and other related works ahead of the Pujas have been asked to submit all relevant documents by October 9.
The decision was submitted by the Central Puja Committee (CPC) to East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah at a meeting held here yesterday.
The documents will include voter identity card or Aadhaar card.
CPC General Secretary, JL Das in a statement today said it was also agreed that the list of local vendors, labourers, priests, assistant priests will not be required.
On Section 144 CrPC imposed from State Central Library to the Chief Secretary’s residence point, Das said it was clarified that the imposition was meant for law and order and not on the incoming idol immersion day on October 24.
Das said senior members or officials of the CPC/DPC would be allowed to escort the immersion procession on foot from the route. He also urged all DPC to ask their members to maintain discipline and decorum during the procession.
He also said that the Deputy Commissioner has assured to pass a separate order that will permit all Nepali DPC to take-out ‘Phoolpati Yatra’ on October 21 and Maha Kalratri Puja at midnight on October 22. Time of the yatra will be fixed in the sector level meeting, Das added.
The PWD permission for erection of extended pandals and welcome gates for all DPCs will be issued after the DC’s directive.
During the meeting, it was discussed that individual puja performers or community puja committees would not be allowed to immerse or keep any idols on the banks of any streams or trees within Greater Shillong.
Das said that after performing the pujas, idols should be kept at CPC’s designated immersion ghat in Polo.
