The Union of Cook-cum-Helpers of PM-POSHAN met with the Education Secretary Swapnil Tembe on Friday in regard to their demand for higher honorariums.
The central government’s share of the honorarium to the Midday Meal scheme workers has been stuck at Rs 900 per month for several years. The state, bowing to pressure, increased its share from Rs 100 to Rs 1,100 per month.
In a statement shared with the media, the union said that Tembe, who is also the Project Director of PM-POSHAN in Meghalaya, had assured that all issues are being actively pursued at several levels with the central government.
The union added that it hopes that the central government will announce an increase in the honorarium this month.
