      Merit test for students to avail scholarship in EJH

      A merit test for all class 12 students of East Jaiñtia Hills district, to avail scholarship from the Star Cement CSR initiative will be held at the Star Public School on June 21.

      A press statement from the CSR department of the company today said that the merit test is for students who are currently pursuing their formal education in any educational institutes in the district. Those students who are appearing in class 12 board exams are also eligible to appear in the test, it added.

      Fifty students will be selected to avail the scholarship which aims to encourage meritorious students to pursue their studies to attain highest level of educational achievement.

      The department said first ten students will receive Rs 50,000 each, second 20 students Rs 30,000 each and Rs 15,000 each for third 20 students.

      Scholarships are one-time financial support designed to help students for pursuing their higher studies. “Star Cement intents to take up scholarships as CSR Education initiatives to promote education among underprivileged students who would like to pursue formal higher education,” it said.
