Meghalaya received around Rs 3.4 crore in funding from the North Eastern Council in May, more than two-thirds of the total of Rs 4.94 crore the NEC dispensed across the eight regional states.
The breakdown of these figures was given in an NEC press note regarding its 2025 Yearbook. The yearbook is meant to be a “comprehensive compilation that underscores our steadfast commitment to the development” of the North East, the note stated.
Regarding fund distribution in Meghalaya, the NEC allotted Rs 1.52 crore for an integrated farming project combining pigs and fish rearing in Ri-Bhoi, Rs 0.34 crore for n organic turmeric project in Ri-Bhoi, Rs 0.62 crore for a boys’ hostel in East Jaintia Hills, nearly Rs 0.52 crore for a survey and investigation of the second stage of the Myntdu-Leshka hydroelectric power project and Rs 0.28 crore for a survey and investigation of the Mawblei hydro power project in West Khasi Hills.
