Sohra broke its own record for highest temperature in June today with a recorded high of 30.5 degrees Celsius at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) station.
This is the first time since records began in 1913 that temperatures have crossed the 30 deg mark in Sohra in June, according to the IMD Data Service Portal. The previous high this month was 29.9 C on June 9, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Umiam IMD station recorded a high of 33.3 C today, the second-highest temperature ever recorded there in the month of June. This beat the 33.2 C of yesterday.
The IMD is predicting scattered thunderstorms in the state on Saturday.
