Former Assistant Inspector General of Police (Administration) Gabriel K Iangrai was arrested today for his alleged involvement in misappropriation of funds in the construction of the Nationwide Emergency Response System (NERS), Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) site at Sadar police station.
A FIR was registered against Iangrai on the alleged misuse of funds on October 28, 2022.
CID, IG O. Pasi said searches were conducted today in his residence at Lumshyiap, Chanmari, Upper Golf Links, official quarter at Golf Links and farm house at Rtiang in, Umsning under Ri Bhoi district.
The warrant was issued by the Court of the Special Judge (PC Act).
Pasi said during the searches, many incriminating documents, cash and material objects were seized.
It may be mentioned that Iangrai is also under the scanner after a high-level inquiry, ordered by Meghalaya Director General of Police L R Bishnoi had unearthed the unofficial procurement and mismanagement of 29 vehicles and the misuse of fuel.
