The State government has sought for a report from various educational institutions that are not ready to implement the New Education Policy (NEP) this year.
Education Minister Rakkam Sangma informed that the government has received several petitions from head of institutions in this regard.
“It is need of the hour to implement NEP however the head of institutions met me and also principal council they are not ready for this academic session. I also had a personal one to one meeting with prominent head of institution they are also of the view that this season is not ready to implement,” Sangma said.
Sangma said that the challenges raised by institutes is the need to introduce the multi disciplinary courses by 2030.
“NEP is a very broad topic whole concept is to bring up the standard of education to global standard. As a state we are not prepared to implement immediately…but we are trying our best. The earlier the better. We don’t want our students to lack behind,” the Education Minister said.
He hoped that by 2024-25 the State can go ahead with implementation of the NEP.
