Kick boxers of Meghalaya brought laurels to the State as they brought home five medals from the WAKO India National Seniors Masters Kickboxing Championship held at Sports Complex Lovely Professional University Jalandhar Punjab, which concluded on July 5.
The Gold medallists are Teimiki Sungoh and Sweety Kumari Thakur, Anjelin Ïakai and Banisha Suiam secured the Silver Medals. All of them are from Shangpung village in West Jaiñtia Hills and Kynsaibor Wahlang from Mawkyrwat South West Khasi Hills District brought home the Bronze Medal.
Congratulating the kickboxers, the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association said since August 2017 the medal tally brought home by the dedicated players from the state totals to 185 medals (70 Gold, 47 Silver and 68 Bronze).
The association also informed that Shaiborlang Lyngdoh Mawphlang, one of the youngest referees in the tournament was certified Grade C while senior kickboxer Mordekai S. Kharpuri led the team as the coach of the Meghalaya team.
