The new NDA government at the Centre has released Rs 1,39,750 crore installment of tax devolution for the states in the country for the month of June.
This release of funds from the tax devolution for the month of June will enable state governments to accelerate development and capital spending.
Meghalaya has been granted Rs 1071.90 crore as tax devolution. Among the North East states, Meghalaya got the third highest amount, after Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Apart from the regular release of the devolution amount for the month of June, one additional installment was also released to the states. Meghalaya got an additional devolution installment of Rs 536 crore.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for authorising the release of the tax devolution to Meghalaya for June.
“I want to thank the government of India, especially the prime minister and the finance minister for releasing the tax devolution yesterday,” Sangma said in a video message.
In another post on X, Sangma said: “We express our gratitude to the @FinMinIndia, for releasing an additional devolution installment of Rs 536 crore to Meghalaya and a total of Rs 1,072.90 crore for the month of June. This additional money will enable the state to accelerate the ongoing development projects.”
