With new Covid-19 cases numbering fewer than 10 per day, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said today that he expects that Meghalaya will be free from the coronavirus within a few days.
Tynsong said this after a review meeting and he also revealed that 60 percent of health workers have been given the first round of the Covid-19 vaccine, with the remaining health professionals to be covered in the next two to three weeks. So far, there have been no severe adverse reactions to the vaccine, he added.
The government has instructed Chief Secretary MS Rao to review the pandemic situation in the state in order to see if further relaxations in Covid-19 restrictions can be introduced.
“Next week we will again sit down and accordingly take a call,” the Deputy CM said.
