MPCC president Vincent H Pala has accused the NPP-led MDA government of trying to wipe-out opposition parties with illegal money.
Stating that the NPP-led MDA Government is arrogant he said, “They are trying to finish off the other parties from the illegal money which they have got from drugs, coal mining and manipulation of contract works.”
His statement came amidst reports of three Congress MLAs likely to join the NPP. Pala said the party MLAs were enticed with development like setting up of blocks, build roads.
“The NPP promises development but nothing happens on the ground except for laying of foundation stones,” he said.
The MPCC president said the party has advised its MLAs not to fall trap to the enticement. He referred to the defection of 17 MLAs in 2021 and said, “We have seen that 70 per cent of them lost the elections.”
Terming it as a desperate move by NPP and BJP to destroy Congress at a time when people’s sentiments are with the party, Pala said that the NPP wants to destroy Congress before the Gambegre bye-election and MDC elections.
Slamming NPP, he said that its ministers are issuing instant cheques in Gambegre besides promising roads, schools, hospitals and blocks when their respective constituencies are devoid of any development. “They are trying to purchase voters in Gambegre as they lost face in the recent Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
