Thirty-five Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS), trainee officers of the 2025 batch today attended an induction training programme at the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI), Mawdiangdiang
The training programme is structured to equip the officers with comprehensive knowledge across administration, governance, and public service, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the demands of public administration.
Commissioner & Secretary of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Dr. Andrew Simons who delivered a key lecture focused on the legislative process in Parliament and aimed to familiarise the officers with the intricacies of law-making and the important role they will play in supporting the Assembly. He encouraged the officers to engage deeply with legislative procedures, underlining their significance in a democratic setup.
Following the lecture, the trainee officers paid a courtesy visit to Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Thomas A. Sangma at his chamber in the Assembly Secretariat.
The Speaker presented each of the trainee officers with a personalised letter of appreciation, and shared words of encouragement.
In addition to classroom sessions, the trainee officers have recently undertaken field visits to various districts across Meghalaya. These exposure visits provided them with firsthand insights into district-level administration and grassroots governance, bridging theory with practical experience.
