The factory of Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL) at Mawmluh, Sohra which is set for permanent closure was not even spared by thieves.
According to police, on the intervening night of December 24 and 25, unknown miscreants broke into the laboratory and chemical office section of the MCCL plant and stole 36 cement treating moulds, two hand tachometers, three platinum crucibles, two stop watches, and other items.
The matter was informed to Sohra police by the Assistant Manager of MCCL. Investigation is on to trace the culprits.
It may be mentioned that most of the machinery of the old MCCL plant has been dismantled into scraps by authorities. Even the two tall chimneys that were erected way back in the early 1960s have been demolished.
