Shillong, Aug 1: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) organised an orientation-cum-meeting on the piloting of the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) for secondary level at its regional office here recently.
The pilot is being undertaken under the Ministry of Education’s PARAKH framework to prepare schools for competency-based assessment in line with NEP 2020.
Officials said the pilot will cover 12 districts and 40–50 per cent of CNRD blocks. DSEOs will coordinate at district level, while principals and nodal teachers will oversee implementation in selected schools.
The programme was chaired by MBOSE Regional Director Macdonald Marbaniang. He said the initiative marks a shift from rote learning to assessing mastery of skills.
Chief Academic Officer Dr. E. J. E. Shongwan explained that the HPC focuses on three assessment types: assessment for Learning through continuous feedback, assessment as learning through self and peer review, and assessment of learning through periodic tests.
The day-long session included technical inputs by PARAKH state resource persons, discussions on timelines, monitoring, and capacity building, followed by distribution of HPC booklets.
MBOSE officials said the pilot aims to identify challenges and gather feedback before statewide rollout, laying the groundwork for a more learner-centred assessment system under NEP 2020.
