Manipur Deputy Chief Minister, Joykumar Singh Yumnam today visited South Garo Hills district to drum support for NPP candidates in the fray to contest the GHADC elections.
Yumnam addressed an election meeting at Deku Bazaar and said that regional parties have very limited role and it was important for the people to realise the fact and vote for a party that has a bigger role to play for the common interest of the region. “NPP is working across Northeast as a united voice to make the voice of the region loud and clear,” he stated.
The Manipur Deputy CM at the rally recalled the contribution of (L) PA Sangma in Indian politics and stated that the people of Garo Hills were lucky to have been blessed by an iconic politician in PA Sangma, who is accorded highly in the country.
Talking about the ideology of the party to work for the welfare of the indigenous people, minorities and the weaker section of the society, he said, “NPP as a party works to be the voice of the people of this region.”
Chief Minister and NPP president Conrad K Sangma said that the ensuing election is very simple to decide as people can choose a party that is working to make a difference in the State.
He told the gathering that during 10 years of Congress tenure in Meghalaya, they were not able to create much development, however, NPP in brief period of 3 years have made significant development interventions, which will turn around the development scenario in Garo Hills and the State.
