Shillong, Aug 27: On Weslyborn Pala was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder going back almost exactly 16 years ago.
On Monday the court of NA Khan, District and Sessions Judge, Jowai, convicted Pala, alias Nana Pala, of Barato village for committing murder.
The case originated from an FIR lodged on August 7, 2009 by Eragina Timung, daughter of the deceased, at Nartiang police investigating centre. She reported that on the previous night, around 8pm, Pala killed Bransely Sujai with a dao. The case was investigated and charge-sheeted by Sub-Inspector W Vaichei.
Finding him guilty, the court sentenced Pala to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000.
