Seven candidates including sitting MPs from Shillong Vincent H Pala and Agatha K Sangma today filed their nomination papers in Meghalaya for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
So far eight candidates have filed their nomination papers. Those who have submitted their papers are Cabinet minister and NPP candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh, UDP’s Robertjune Kharjahrin, VPP Ricky J Syngkon and Independent candidate Lakhon Kma for the Shillong constituency.
For Tura constituency, Congress’s candidate and sitting Gambegre MLA Saleng Sangma and Independent Candidate Labenn Ch Marak filed their nominations today. TMC’s Zenith Sangma will file his papers tomorrow.
Shillong and Tura parliamentary constituencies will vote in the first phase on April 19.
According to the Election Commission, the notification for the first-phase polls was issued on March 20 and March 27 is the last date for filing of nominations.
Scrutiny of nominations will be done on March 28 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 30.
