A legal awareness cum health camp on ‘Empowerment of Citizens Through Legal Awareness and Outreach’ was organised at Mooknor-Narwan village in East Jaiñtia Hills district today as part of the Legal Service Day.
The programme was organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in collaboration with the district administration and the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer.
District and Sessions Judge cum chairperson DLSA, C. Dkhar in her address expressed her gratitude to the various departments of the district for taking part in the awareness programme which will be beneficial for the public at large. She informed about the functions of the DLSA and said it also monitors the welfare schemes implemented by various government departments and to also ensure that welfare schemes reaches the beneficiaries.
Block Development Officer (BDO), Saipung C&RD Block, Dr. R. Pyrtuh enlightened the gathering on the various schemes implemented by the office that includes MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP), National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Chief Minister Special Development Fund and the Social Security Benefit Schemes.
The BDO also urged people visit the office to get more information about the Schemes and he also encouraged the beneficiaries to register for e-SHRAM and to enroll for Aadhaar card.
Topics such as the NDPS Act, early marriage, child rights, domestic violence and POCSO act, one stop centre and its functions and others were the focus at the awareness programme.
