Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) incumbent president Lambokstarrwell Marngar is set to be reelected for the second term as he was the lone contender for the post.
Similarly, Biangbor L. Paliar and Donald V. Thabah have been elected unopposed for the posts of vice president and general secretary respectively as there were no other contenders against them.
It may be noted that an election committee has been set up by the central leadership of KSU to conduct the fifteenth election for the term of 2023-2026.
The KSU election will be held on May 6 from 8 am to 3 pm at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw here.
The election committee yesterday scrutinised the nomination papers of candidates contesting for the various posts in the KSU central executive committee.
Four candidates are in the fray for the post of assistant general secretary. They are James Hitler Mawphniang, Reuben A. Najiar, Shelkitbok Kharbani and Eddie Malngiang.
For the post of organising secretary, the three candidates are Raymond Kharjana, Gary N. Mawlieh and Samuel Shabong. Similarly, there are three candidates for the post of education secretary who included Nangri Kupar Malngiang, Richestson Malngiang and Pynkmenlang Sanmiet.
Five contenders are in the race for the post of information secretary. They are Pynshai Kupar Dkhar, Pynshai Borlang Rani, Sainkupar Syngkli, Melajied Khongbuh and Mekenson Marbaniang
For the post of office secretary, the candidates are Alerick Kharjana, Samuel L. Nonglait and Spaindarsing Lyngkhoi. Four candidates are contesting for the post of sports and cultural secretary. They include Badonbok Malngiang, Cleenstar Shabong, Eric A. Nongkynrih and Hopefulborn L. Mawnai.
The highest number of candidates is for the post of environment secretary. They include Apporlang Thabah, Badonkupar Kharmalki, Basuklang N. Khongwar, Dusterwell Lyngdoh, Franky K. Pathaw, Lester Nongbet, Mesadapbor Skhembill and Shining Star Kharbihkhiew.
