Although most of the candidates contesting the upcoming Assembly elections in the State have made education as their election agenda, yet 35 per cent of them have declared their educational qualifications to be between 5th and 12th standard.
Of the 375 candidates in the fray, 132 of them have declared their educational qualifications to be between 5th and 12th standard.
This is as per the report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
While one candidate declared himself as ‘literate’, two candidates are 5th passed, 16 are 8th passed, 34 are 10th passed and 80 are 12th passed.
Meanwhile, 235 candidates (63 per cent) have declared having an educational qualification of graduation or above.
According to the report, 128 candidates are graduates, 49 are graduate professionals, 51 are post-graduates and seven are doctorates. Seven others are diploma holders.
As far as the age details of candidates, 134 candidates (36 per cent) have declared their age to be between 25 to 40 years while 215 candidates (57 per cent) have declared their age to be between 41 to 60 years.
There are 26 candidates (7 per cent) who have declared their age to be between 61 to 80 years.
Further, as far as the gender details of candidates, 36 female candidates (10 per cent) are contesting in this election.
In the 2018 Assembly polls, 33 candidates (9 per cent) out of 370 were women.
