The Khasi Students Union (KSU) in Ri-Bhoi has urged the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) to postpone an event that it is schedule to hold starting on Good Friday.
USTM is set to host the seventh edition of the North East Graduate Congress, which will begin on April 7 and run until April 9.
Unfortunately, this happens to fall on Holy Week this year, the most sacred week in the liturgical year in Christianity. April 7 is Good Friday and April 9 Easter.
The KSU said that holding an event during this time would offend the sentiments of the Christian community. The pressure group also urged the university to add the state holidays that fall during this period to the varsity’s holiday list.
