Shillong, Feb 28: The Khasi Students Union (KSU) has written to the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), West Jaintia Hills District seeking urgent intervention to address the acute shortage of doctors at the Dawki Primary Health Centre (PHC).
According to the KSU, the PHC has been without doctors for two weeks, following the transfer of the previous incumbents to other health facilities.
Despite assurances from authorities, the KSU said no new appointments have so far been made, leaving patients in the region to face significant hardships.
“We regret that over a month has passed without progress, causing immense inconvenience to patients, particularly those in border areas,” the KSU stated.
The union has urged the DMHO to expedite posting of doctors at the health centre and the health department and minister in-charge to look into the matter urgently.
