Guwahati, Nov 1: To foster unity and strengthen the bond among Khasi and Jaintia students pursuing studies in Guwahati, the Khasi Jaintia Students’ Union (KJSU), Guwahati Unit, today organised a grand fresher’s meet at Shilpgram.
The event welcomed new students and encourages cooperation and togetherness among the Khasi student community in the city.
Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar attended the event in the presence of Trebor Suchiang, Hills Farmer Union President Commander Shangpliang, Ladapborlang Mawrie, Adviser of the KSU, KJSU President Mountain Dkhar and General Secretary Kaiman Sayoo, besides others.
Established in 1973, the KJSU Guwahati Unit has been actively working as a voluntary organisation dedicated to assisting and safeguarding the welfare of Khasi students in Assam.
The occasion served as a platform for interaction, unity, and collective efforts towards the well-being and progress of Khasi students.
The gathering also observed a moment of silence in honour of former Meghalaya Chief Minister DD Lapang.
During the event, awards and recognitions were also presented to outstanding individuals and students for their exceptional achievements and contributions to the Khasi community.
Songs, dances, and musical performances by the students created an atmosphere of joy, unity, and cultural pride.
